Understanding the Collection of Application Essays and Supplemental Questions

We gather all essay prompts directly from the CommonApp, including supplemental essays and trigger questions. However, if some essays are located beyond the CommonApp, we may not always be aware of them immediately.

How We Collect Essay Prompts

Our primary source for essay prompts is the CommonApp, where we capture all main, supplemental, and trigger questions that schools include as part of their application process. This approach ensures that the essential essays most applicants needs are readily available in our system.

Why Some Questions Might Be Missing

Some schools have additional essays or questions that are hosted outside the CommonApp environment, such as on their own websites or specific departmental pages. These essays, which can include unique program requirements or additional application supplements, may not be visible to us unless specifically reported. This means that our visibility is limited when schools choose to place certain requirements outside the CommonApp platform.

Honors and Other Non-CommonApp Essays: How We Collect Them

We collect all essay prompt from the CommonApp, including main, supplemental, college questions and trigger questions. Additionally, CounselMore members and member schools directly report specialized essays, such as honors program prompts, to us. We then incorporate these essays into our database to ensure a comprehensive collection.
