My Business - Gmail not required

Do I need a Google Account for students/parents to access the Advisor's Google Drive?  Click here

You can sign up with any email address (yahoo, outlook, gmail, etc)

This is not to be confused with the Google Account you will later use to link your Google Drive to your CounselMore Account. Your CounselMore Account Email will serve as a login credential whenever you need to access your Counselor Portal and can be different from your Google Account Email.

When a student has a choice of email addresses, which one should a counselor use in the student record?

  • An email address assigned by the high school will terminate after graduation. Making this a poor option if you intend to follow up with the contact in the future.

  • Any email address will work with Google drive integration.

It is sticking to the chosen email address that is important.

  • Remind your student to be consistent. The student email address in their Student Profile, is the same as the email the student portal invitation was sent, is the same email the student uses to sign into their Google Drive shared folder.

In some cases, Counselors have to communicate with students using more than one email address because Google use is restricted in their home country or other privacy issue.

  • In those cases, create an additional contact line in the Student Profile for the student's secondary email address.
  • Invite the student to the share folder and student portal.
  • Invite the secondary contact to the share folder and student portal.
    • Share the. Student Portal by clicking the Lock icon in the contact.
    • Share the Google Drive folder, directly from Google drive, "Share" button

What if I used the wrong email address for a student portal invitation?

  • Once you open/invite the student to their Student Portal, the email address is now attached to that portal. The email assigned is the KEY to their portal.
  • Contact support@counselmore.com
  • The email will be disconnected and cleared in a moment.
