Messaging Tab: Messaging Notification Rules (Email and Chat)

CounselMore provides notifications to keep counselors, students, and parents informed when new messages are sent or received. Notifications are available within the Messaging tab.

Chat Notifications

Chat allows real-time messaging between counselors, students, and parents.

Individual Chat Notifications

When a counselor sends a chat message:

  • The student or parent receives an in-app notification and an email notification

When a student or parent sends a chat message:

  • The assigned counselor receives an in-app notification and an email notification

For accounts with Management Suite and multiple counselors assigned:

  • All assigned counselors receive notifications when a student or parent sends a chat message



Group Chat Notifications

Group chat allows counselors, students, and parents to participate in the same conversation.

When a message is sent in a group chat:

  • All participants receive an in-app and email notification

This applies when the message is sent by:

  • Counselor

  • Student

  • Parent/contact


Email Notifications

Email messages sent through CounselMore also generate notifications.

When a counselor sends an email to student, parent, or both:

  • The student, parent or both receives an in-app and email notification

Note: Notifications are also received on the CounselMore iOS app if the app is installed. Counselors, students, and parents will receive push notifications on their iPhone when new Chat or Email messages are received, allowing them to stay informed even when not logged in to the web portal.
