Google drive - Connected wrong Google Drive / Change Google Drive
I connected the wrong Google Drive, how do I change Google Drives?
new google drive , swap drive , change drive
TIP: If you want to continue using the same CounselMore folder that was created in your current drive and move that to the new drive, you will need to change ownership of the folder. That's easy. Grant privileges to share the (old) folder with the new drive. When in the new drive, locate the folder in shared with me. Return to old drive, click Share. a new window will open showing you who owns the folder and who the folder is shared with. to the right of each person's email address is a drop-down menu to indicate each user's level of access. one of the choices is to make the new Drive the new owner. Pick which of these situations is yours:
Situation 1:
You have not created any (real/actual) student records that resulted in CounselMore auto generating folders for you.
Instructions:
-
Inside your CounselMore app Then goto Settings (top right hand corner)
- Goto Google Drive (see on left)
- Click Clear Settings
- Then connect to the right Google Drive.
Situation 2:
You connected a Google Drive to CounselMore. Then created Student Records in CounselMore and those resulted in folders that auto-generated in your google drive. But you do not want that google drive any more - you want CounselMore to connect to a different drive, without losing folders.
Instructions:
Share the Student Records folder with your new Google Drive
- Go directly to your Old Google Drive (the one you do not want to be connected to).
- Right click on your "CounselMore" folder: choose "Share" > "Share" again
- Type in the email address of your new Google Drive folders to share the folder with your new address/drive.
- "Save and done"
Make your new Google Drive the owner of that folder
- Right click on the "Student Records" folder (again): choose "share"
- "Share" again
- See the pencil to the right of the email address with a drop down, from the drop down choose Owner.
- Now your New Google Drive address is the "Owner" of this folder
- Now go directly to your new Google drive.
Redo the two steps above for all subfolders
- You will now see the folder you have changed ownership on, residing in your new google drive. If you don't then refresh the page.
- Now you will need to re-assign ownership for each of your folders in your old drive. Start changing ownership in your old google drive with the top folders. "Student Records" folder, "Templates" folder. And work your way down.
- After all folder owners have been re-assigned.
- Be sure you find them all in your new google drive.
- Return to CounselMore.
Relink the Student Records folder from the new Google Drive
- Goto Settings
- Goto Google Drive in settings in your CounselMore app
- Authorize to your new Google Drive by clicking "sign in"
- Now go to each student record inside your CounselMore app.
- Goto the student's Files tab for each student.
- Choose button: Navigate to an existing folder
- Map each student folder to the new folder location in your new google drive.
