Google drive - Connect new Student to Existing Google Folder
If you already created a student folder in your Google Drive before adding the student in CounselMore, you can connect that existing folder instead of creating a new one.
Before You Begin
- Make sure your Google Drive is connected to CounselMore
- Confirm that there is only one folder for that student in your Google Drive to avoid confusion
How to Link a New Student to an Existing Google Folder
- Go to the student’s profile in CounselMore
- Click on the Files tab
- Click the blue menu button
- Select “Link to existing folder”
- Navigate your Google Drive and select the correct student folder
- Confirm your selection

Once linked, the student’s Google Drive folder will be connected to their record in CounselMore.
What Happens After Linking
- The selected folder becomes the official student folder in CounselMore
- All files added through CounselMore will appear in this folder
- Any files already in the folder will be accessible through the student’s Files tab
- Changes made in Google Drive will sync automatically with CounselMore
Troubleshooting
I see multiple folders for the same student
- Verify which folder is correct and remove or rename duplicates before linking
I’m getting an error or unable to link the correct folder
- In some cases, the Google Drive connection may need to be reset on the back end
- Please contact support@counselmore.com so we can clear the existing Google Drive connection and allow you to reconnect the correct folder
