What Does "Beta" Mean? This article discusses the return of the Fin Fit tab and CounselMore's desire to learn your feedback about the tool
As a CounselMore member with an account initiated after January 1, 2024, you have access to the Fin Fit tab (Beta).
Legacy members (accounts created prior to Jan 1 2024), will see the tab but will be prompted to upgrade their platform due to data space limitations in older accounts, which restrict the addition of new features.
CounselMore offers reasonably priced plans, charging only for what counselors use, while providing consistent data updates, proprietary data storage, and ongoing development to enhance value.
As the only counselor-centric tool, we encourage you to upgrade and take full advantage of these powerful enhancements.

Understanding the Beta Release of the New Spreadsheet Tool
What Does "Beta" Mean?
In the world of technology and software development, "Beta" is a phase where a new feature, tool, or application is made available for a limited group of users to explore before its final release. During this phase, users like you have the unique opportunity to experience new functionalities firsthand, provide invaluable feedback, and actively shape the future of the tool. Essentially, it’s a collaborative effort between our development team and you, our user community, to improve and enhance the product together.
Why Does CounselMore Use the Beta Model?
At CounselMore, we strive to create a tool that is genuinely built by and for our users. This Beta approach allows us to remain closely aligned with your needs, preferences, and experiences. We recognize that some may see it as a bit messy, but for those who enjoy leading on the bleeding edge of creation, this method allows for an ever-forward-leaning journey of innovation.
The feedback we collect during Beta is not merely heard—it drives our decisions and development process. Our goal is to deliver tools that serve the real, tangible needs of counselors and their students, not just something polished from afar. We believe this iterative and user-focused approach is how we best serve our community, even if it means navigating a few bumps along the way.
How to Participate
Your input is invaluable in shaping this tool. By clicking on the Knowledge Base, you’ll find a dedicated section where you can easily send us your feedback. Share your experiences, challenges, or suggestions. Our developers will review your feedback to guide improvements and ensure the tool becomes everything you need.
What’s New: Financial Fit (Fin Fit) Tab
This feature is designed to support your process as you receive and compare offer letters. Enter data, explore features, and store ideas for future use—all in one place.
Important to Note:
- This Beta tool aims to complement your counseling practice, not make financial guarantees or predictions.
- We’re not trying to be all things to all counselors; instead, we prioritize your needs and feedback.
- Our tools are here to help guide conversations, bringing clarity and ease to your student interactions.
- If something doesn't make sense you should tell us.
- Any information you enter into the Beta tool will stay - feel free to actively use it with clients and actively send feedback as you interact with the tools.
- Your students cannot see the Fin Fit tab - not yet. In a few weeks after we have received your collaboration, you will make the choice to show or hide the Fin Fit tab from your student portal.
- If you do not want to see the tab now, navigate to Settings >> Tab Settings and turn the tab off.
Moving Forward Together
The future is shaped by the actions we take today. Join us on this journey, participate, and help steer the direction of your tools and the industry at large.
While Beta may feel a bit like navigating uncharted waters, it’s where great innovations are born—and it’s why we continue to lean into user feedback. Together, we’re building the next generation of solutions that truly reflects your needs.
We look forward to hearing from you. Your voice is essential in this process. Let’s build something exceptional together.
