Answer:

Did you use the "Merge with Existing Students" button in Settings > Default Data Menu, at top of the page?

Any student record that existed prior to the changes made in defaults, will remain the same with any new columns added to the far right of the information columns. 

Merge will not remove or reorder columns you already assigned previously in an existing college list.

If you were to add a New Student with a new list - then you would see only default information columns when you first pull colleges from Results to the Counselor List.
