We returned to our resource to ask your question. **This is the reply:** COA columns definition - The total cost of a Boston University education includes direct expenses for which you are billed, such as tuition, fees, and charges for room and meals, as well as estimates and allowances for indirect expenses such as books, supplies, transportation, and incidental (personal) expenses   We replied to Peterson's stating this is what the definition glossary holds but we would like a deeper answer and they repeated the reply to us. We apologize that Peterson's in not offering more but we know the colleges are only responsible to report specific costs on the school specific COA calculator.
