College List - Columns: What are my chances? "View Comparison"

Candidate Shaping Tools, How to use the Candidate Comparison to School Application Requirements - formerly called" What are my chances? is now View Comparison

It is essential for students to pay attention to their academic performance, as colleges and universities often have specific GPA and test score requirements for admission to the school AND the major or college within the university campus.

By understanding these criteria and working diligently to meet or exceed them, students can increase their chances of being accepted into their desired schools. But it is equally important that the student's overall biography reflects the values of the school.

A college counselor will help a student to reflect all of their unique qualities and highlight areas where the student particularly matches to a campus' values. On the other hand when the student's academic record is a match but their profile is not, the candidate comparison tools, will guide the counselor on areas for improvement.

Note:

GPA, Testing Information and Self-assessment must be entered in the "Biographical Banners" of the student.

1. Click on the pencil icon and you'll be able to access sections for GPA, Testing Information, and Self-assessment. Remember to fill in all the necessary data required for each category.

2. Once you have inputted all the necessary information, you can proceed to the column list and review the section titled "what are my chances."

Tip:

The color indicators in the column are influenced by both GPA and test scores. Even in cases where testing is optional, schools still provide data on the last admitted GPA and average test scores in the common data set. Additionally, within the Bio banners, students will find a self-assessment section containing 6 questions that pertain to the weighted areas of the application, as outlined by the school in the common data set. This self-assessment will also be reflected in the "what are my chances" column report.

3. Click the "View my comparison."

The report will provide a comparison of this student's performance to the average admissions test scores and GPA of each college. It will also evaluate how the college assesses other application items.

NOTICE:

In 2024 the college summary report, single school look up and comparison tool will be reiterated into a single report - the Candidate Comparison report for counselor, student and family. If your account does not have the updated report, please contact support@counselmore.com
