College Data - Submit Data correction

Community-sourced, aka crowdsourced data, means we all collectively collect and correct data. This minimizes the work for all and cracks open admissions faster for professionals.

NOTE:

Only information coming from a primary resources, such as the college's website or Common App will be accepted.

Crowdsource Admissions Data with CounselMore CounselMore software empowers counselors to correct and update admissions data collaboratively.

As admissions requirements and processes can change frequently, crowdsourcing this information ensures that everyone stays informed of the latest updates.

This collaborative approach is vital in the professional network of educational consulting, fostering a culture of sharing, consensus, and mutual support.

By contributing to and utilizing collective knowledge, counselors can better guide their students and adapt to the ever-changing landscape of college admissions. Holding onto information helps no one—sharing is key to collective success.

How to correct data

  1. From Counselor's list or Student's List tabs, use the blue navigation button.

  2. From the drop down choose "Data Correction Mode".
  3. Click on the cell you wish to correct.
  4. A new window will open.
  5. Locate the correct data on the college's website (not an alternative resource).
  6. Copy and paste in the information you have found into the new window.
  7. RETURN to the source of the data (college webpage), COPY the url of the page where you found correct data. We only accept primary research locations: The college's website or Common App information resources.
  8. Return to your CounselMore tab and at the bottom of the data correction window, paste in the url.
  9. Press send.

NOTE:

Your cell will update right away.  CounselMore will chase the url you have sent as a second pair of eyes. If the information was corrected per the above instructions the information will be validated.

Sometimes the data cell is blank - why is that?

Some schools don't report on specific data points. While we and you are always filling in new and updated information, it is possible that a school chooses not to report that information. Or that the information resource lacked that information but still counted it as an asset. Sometimes this can also be caused by the internet connection. If your list has many schools and many columns, data transmission can get caught in the pipeline. There are different speeds of internet service and there is the intermittent drops of full connectivity. Clicking from one tab to another or refreshing your screen can help test this.

How do I know when a data point was last updated?

Want to know the last time a cell was updated - click the small question mark inside the cell.

After you know when the data cell was last updated, consider these:

  • Is the date recent enough that you can continue moving forward for now? You may choose to leave as-is.
  • Are you aware of new data?
  • Share new information with your colleagues, and they will do the same for you!
  • Contribute to your professional community.
  • When we work together we share the burdens of our unique industry.
