Assignments, view bar, see the student or parent portal
What do parents see?
What do students see?
The CounselMore app offers counselors the flexibility to manage and view assignments from different perspectives using the View Bar. This feature allows counselors to switch between views to see assignments as a student, parent, or counselor would see them, making it easier to communicate and manage tasks effectively.
The View Bar Icons
• Green Pencil : This is the primary view where counselors can edit and manage all assignments. In this view, you have full control to create and assign assignments to both the student and parent, as well as setting deadlines.
• Graduation Cap: This icon represents the student’s point of view (POV). By clicking this icon, you can see exactly what the student will see in their portal. This helps you ensure the student has clear access to their assigned assignments and deadlines.
• Double-Head Icon: This icon shows the parent’s point of view (POV). By clicking this icon, you can see exactly what the parent will see in their portal. This view helps you verify what information they can see in their portal.
• Single-Head Icon: This is the counselor’s point of view (POV), allowing you to return to your personal counselor view of assignments.
• Grid Icon: This icon takes you to the calendar view of all assignments, providing an overview of the tasks scheduled across time.
Note: Only you (the counselor) will see all assignments. For students and parents, only the assignments assigned to them will appear in their portals.
Additionally, the assignment start date must be a present date for the assignment to be live and seen in parent and student portal.
Steps to View the Student Portal:
1 Go to the Assignments Tab in the student's profile.
2 Look at the top of the screen, where you’ll find the View Bar with various icons representing different perspectives.
3 Click the Graduation Cap Icon to switch to the student’s point of view. In this view, you’ll see exactly what the student sees in their portal, including all assignments and deadlines. This ensures that the assignments are presented clearly and appropriately for the student.
Why Use the Student View?
Switching to the student’s view is particularly helpful when you want to:
• Confirm the student has access to all the correct assignments.
• Double-check that deadlines and notes are visible and clear.
• See if the information and layout are presented in a student-friendly format.
By utilizing the View Bar effectively, you can ensure that assignments are well-organized and properly communicated to both students and parents, leading to smoother collaboration and better outcomes.
