Understanding Notifications and App Tracker Navigation in CounselMore
Overview
This article aims to provide clear instructions on how to manage notifications specifically related to the App Tracker tab in CounselMore. Although you will find notifications act similarly in other areas of the application.
How Notifications Work
Notification Alerts
Top Right Hand Corner - Bell - Notifications Icon

The notification icon will light up, indicating that there is a new notification. Select and click on a message, the screen will change taking you to where the action happened.

A small yellow dot will indicate where a change has been made. Look at header label of information column. The edit was made in this column.

Manual Clearing:

Notifications will not clear automatically; you must manually clear them by clicking the trash can icon.
Clicking on Notifications:
- App Tracker Notifications: When you receive a notification related to the App Tracker, it means your student has done something in their portal >> App Tracker, prompting a notification in the top right corner of your screen.
- Reading Notifications: Clicking on a notification will direct you to the App Tracker. It’s essential to read the notification carefully to understand where to look in the App Tracker. Look for a yellow dot, which indicates where your student made an update or left a message.
Handling Modifications and Discussions
Student Modifies a Status/Strategy Cell or the Discuss Column:
- Bell Icon: When a student updates a status column or leaves a comment in the discuss column, a bell icon will appear.
- Redirection: Clicking the bell icon will redirect you to the App Tracker, but it won’t show a specific dot indicating the exact location of the comment or modification. Read the notification to know more. Caution: look carefully, as the dot is not always easily seen.
Hovering Over Tabs:
- Identifying Changes: To identify where changes were made, hover over the relevant cells in the App Tracker.
- Previewing Updates: This action will provide a quick preview of the recent updates or comments.
Detailed Notification Behavior
Student Leaves a Chat in Discuss Column:
- Receiving Notifications: When a student leaves a comment in the discuss column:
- The counselor (C) will receive a notification bell.
- A bell icon will appear on the tab.
- A dot will be placed on the specific school and on the discuss column.
- Navigating to Comments: Clicking on the dot will automatically scroll to the ‘discuss’ column, allowing you to see the comment immediately.
