AI Rewrite (Seymore) for Assignment & Meeting Note Descriptions

When you're writing up an assignment or meeting note, you can now ask Seymore's built-in AI Rewrite tool to polish, reorganize, or summarize what you've typed — or give it a custom instruction of your own. It works on the description/notes box anywhere that box appears, and it's available to every account type.

Where to find AI Rewrite

The ✦ AI Rewrite button AI rewrite button appears in the description/notes editor in each of these places:

  • Add New Assignment
  • Add New Meeting Notes
  • Add Routine Assignment / Meeting Notes
  • The in-place expanded assignment card editor (click the chevron to expand a card, then edit inline)

How to use it

  1. Open Add New Assignment, Add New Meeting Notes, or Add Routine Assignments/Meeting Notes.
  2. Type or paste your content into the description box as usual.
  3. To edit only part of the text, highlight that section before clicking AI Rewrite — only the highlighted text will be sent for editing. If you don't highlight anything, the whole description is used.
  4. Click ✦ AI Rewrite. A small menu opens right at the button

    • If the description box is empty, the menu will just show a hint to add text first — there's nothing to rewrite yet.

  5. Choose one of the built-in options, or type your own instruction:
    • Polish – cleans up wording, grammar, and tone.
    • Organize – restructures the text into a clearer flow.
    • Summarize – shortens it down to the key points.
    • Ask for a custom edit… – type any instruction (e.g., "make this more formal") and press Enter or the arrow button to run it.

Seymore opens on top of the modal or card with a suggested rewrite. You can keep chatting with Seymore here to refine the result further before doing anything with it — it stays clickable the whole time.

Applying or copying the result

Once you're happy with a suggestion, you have two options:

  • Apply to description — overwrites the existing description with Seymore's reply. Even if you only asked Seymore to fix one sentence, it returns (and applies) the full description text back — nothing else you wrote gets lost.
    • Applying a newer reply replaces whatever you applied before, so you won't end up with duplicated text stacking up.
    • The change is saved once you save the assignment/meeting note as normal, and it sticks whether you applied it from the modal or from the inline expanded card.
    • Bold, italics, lists, and links carry over into the description. Underline, colored text, custom fonts, and images do not survive the rewrite.
    • Changed your mind? Press Ctrl+Z (Cmd+Z on Mac) right after applying, or use the editor's own Undo toolbar button, to revert to what you had before.
  • Copy — copies Seymore's reply as plain text so you can paste it somewhere else (like an email or another field). The button will briefly change to Copied to confirm it worked.

AI usage limits

  • Every AI Rewrite request counts toward a counselor's AI usage allowance.
  • This allowance is shared across all of Seymore's AI features on the account — not just AI Rewrite (for example, it's shared with the bio/banner AI extraction feature too).
  • Once a counselor hits their cap, a message will show letting you know you've reached your AI usage limit.
